Hudson Valley 5Rhythms
Hudson Valley 5Rhythms at Ascend Collective
Second Saturday and last Saturday Every Month from 5pm - 6:30pm
Led by Peter Fodera, Stephanie Diamond and other Guest Teachers
5Rhythms is a dance practice created by the dancer/musician Gabrielle Roth in which participants gather in a supportive community, dancing instinctively to music, guided by a certified teacher/DJ. It is a combination between group meditation and dancing with the ecstatic abandon of someone who is absolutely certain they are all alone, but instead are in a supportive community. Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support, and to provide a brave space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-walking, rock star part of ourselves that yearns to be free.
The 5Rhythms are: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness. Classes last two hours. They begin slow, the pace pick ups in the middle and end with a slow unwinding.
Wear clothes you can move in, dance barefoot or with indoor sneakers, bring a water bottle and your open heart. This is a drug and alcohol free practice.

Sisterhood of the Rose: A Monthly Women's Circle
Let us gather amongst Sisters - to witness, support & inspire each other; share in one another’s wisdom; re-connect to our precious bodies; center in our Divine essence; create and manifest our most sacred dreams; and celebrate the love, the courage & the joy we hold in our hearts! We will engage with the sacred medicines of sound, breath, ritual, movement, plants and essential oils. The Sisterhood of the Rose circles are hosted by Katya Varlamova - Cold Spring based clinical herbalist, Ascend maker, and founder of Warmicita Herbals.
“Rose is an embodiment of the Divine Feminine. She delights in beauty and magic, yet she is not ashamed of her thorns… I see Sisterhood of the Rose as a powerful community of beautiful sisters, and a sacred space of deep connection, nurture, healing & celebration!”
Katya is a clinical herbalist with more than 12 years of experience. She is a naturopath, plant wellness educator, and founder of the organic herbal wellness line Warmicita Herbals (www.warmicitaherbals.com, IG @warmicitaherbals).
Katya sees clients for a host of acute and chronic health concerns. She uses herbal medicine from a variety of traditions as well as highest quality natural supplements to help bring her clients' health to its optimum level. Katya works closely with her clients to identify the true cause of health challenges. She uses muscle testing and dynamic kinesiology as added techniques to shed light on the true origins of health patterns. Her work takes a very holistic approach, and sometimes the path to true wellness calls for shifts in non-physical realms, such as emotional, psychological, energetic or spiritual aspects of being. Katya then uses flower essences, gem elixirs, guided meditation, inner child work, ritual and breath work, to encourage and nurture the process of inner transformation. Diet, lifestyle, digestion, sleep, energy levels and connection with nature are always considered.
Katya welcomes in-person clients in NYC and in the Hudson Valley (at Ascend in Cold Spring NY.) Zoom sessions are also available. She offers single sessions, as well as 1 and 3-month health partnership programs.
Katya hosts plant walks, women’s circles, and teaches plant medicine classes and retreats in NYC, the Hudson Valley, Europe and the Amazon.

Monthly Yoga Nidra with Dani
If you find it hard to switch off, this class is for you! We all need more rest especially before the holidays. Achieving this however can be very challenging for most of us, especially if you find it hard to relax, to fall asleep or to stay asleep. This Yoga for Deep Rest class aims to support your body to learn to relax fully, so the mind and body soften to allow the nervous system settle.
This class is about enabling you to let go of physical and mental stress and encourage your sympathetic nervous system (fight, flight freeze) to dial down and your parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) to dial up - promoting balance and helping you to reset.
You will be guided into a few very supportive asanas to relax the body and then you will be guided through a Yoga Nidra mediation enhanced with essential oils. A special place of sleepless sleep where you just listen to your internal pulse of just being.
Danielle Locastro

The first time she moved her body and breath in a yoga class for her was like drawing, praying and painting. It too would be part of her life’s practice to maintain a healthy, mind, body, and spirit connection.
In 2013 Dani starting teaching after achieving her teacher certification, in the Raja Hatha Style of Yoga under Amy Pearce-Hayden. Her focus is on alignment with a dash of creative expression so that yoga on and off the mat is accessible for everybody. She works weekly in a variety of Hudson Valley Studios such as Elevate Yoga & Barre, Encourage, All Sport Fitness and Ascend Studio in her hometown of Cold Spring. In addition she works with numerous private clients to maintain wellness, promote balance, improve quality of life and explore creative expression.

Danielle Locastro, usually known as Dani, is a professional artist and a certified yoga instructor. She has been exploring her connection to something greater than herself her entire life through her art. She initially came to the mat 17 years ago as a way back to health after a near death experience during childbirth. When she started practicing with Charles Matkin and Lisa Bennet, she knew that this practice was transformative.

Somatic Release Breathwork
Somatic Release Breathwork™ is a healing practice to release trauma, stress and tension that
has been stored in the body. Through guided breath patterns, NLP ( Neuro Linguistic Programming ) and co-regulation of your nervous system this modality is self-healing on a deep subconscious level. In this practice we access the sympathetic nervous system to allow what's been stuck in the body to be expressed and moved out and invite in new more useful patterns.
The session is done laying down with eyes closed and is set to music.
Somatic Release Breathwork™ often inspires insights on what's been keeping you stuck and
creates a safe space to release the past and claim your authentic Self.
Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, water bottle and journal for insights, optional eye mask.
Julia Zern
Julia is a Vinyasa and Yin yoga teacher, as well as a Somatic Release Breathwork™ practitioner living and working in the Hudson Valley.
Julia has a background of practicing many different styles of yoga, learning from both local and international teachers since the year 2000 and teaching since 2011. She teaches a modern flow while staying true to the ancient teachings and philosophy that is the foundation of all Yoga. Julia guides gentle Yin yoga to release tension from the body and to regulate the nervous system, and as a reminder to get more present to the subtle energetics.
You can find Julia leading classes, workshops and trainings around Hudson Valley and sometimes in her home country Sweden. Julia believes that a steady and committed practice can be a catalyst for transformation and deep healing.

Sisterhood of the Rose: A Monthly Women's Circle
“When the Woman Knows Herself…”
Let us gather amongst Sisters - to witness, support & inspire each other; share in one another’s wisdom; re-connect to our precious bodies; center in our Divine essence; create and manifest our most sacred dreams; and celebrate the love, the courage & the joy we hold in our hearts!
May Focus:
We will gather the Saturday before Mother's Day to honor and celebrate the magical, loving, fierce, creative, wise, compassionate, life-giving energy of the Mother we all carry deep within... and offer ourselves and each other the sacred gift of mothering, deep care and true presence - so healing and liberating, especially for those of us who did not receive it fully in our childhood years. As always, we will magick with plants, sound, ritual and partner practices inside this beautiful healing space amongst sisters.
Speak and be heard, share and feel supported, listen and be inspired!
The Sisterhood of the Rose circles are hosted by Katya Varlamova - Cold Spring based clinical herbalist, Ascend maker, and founder of Warmicita Herbals.
Cost: $27

Surrender with Alison Sinatra
Surrender: A movement class for healing
With the world quite literally feeling on fire, where do you find sanctuary? For me it is in a deeper connection to life, the elements, the directions, my ancestors and future generations. The way to healing for me is through the body, this is where everything is stored. This class is an exploration of our spiritual connection through movement.
We will do breathwork to purify, somatic exercises to release stored grief, yin yoga postures to untangle stress in the connective tissue and a yoga nidra practice to receive and integrate.
The class will be curated to music. All are welcome just as you are.
Alison Sinatra has been teaching people to connect with their body for over 20 years. She has led retreats all over the world, has been senior faculty for both Kula Yoga Project and Boston Yoga School teacher training programs. Alison is a medicine woman and classes are inspired by her work with indigenous studies from North and South America. She has just completed a year long somatic training with Gabor Mate called "compassionate inquiry" for trauma and addiction. Her work with women is a fundamental part of her heart and creates ritual and ceremony to assist with important markings in one's life. Alison lives in the Catskills with her intuitive hubby and two beautiful children.

Kundalini Breathwork with Amanda Nova Wellness
Kundalini Breathwork
What Amanda does is a blending of different modalities, so it is kind of a different experience than anything that is out there. It is a combination of circular breathwork, kundalini energy activation (kind of like reiki but working with the kundalini) and channeling messages.
Amanda starts the experience with somatic movement like shaking, dancing and then the participants lay on their backs on mats with blankets, pillows under their knees, eye coverings if they would like that. Amanda will then instruct you how to do the breathing and then she plays music while they begin to do the breathwork. Next, Amanda then walks around and facilitates kundalini energy work to the group. People often have releases, as it can remove stuck energy, it also can help bring the person clarity, calm and insights.
