Melinda Huff
Mirame is a brand focused on helping women to feel comfortable and confident at the beach. All of the brand's swimwear is made in New York City utilizing upcycled material. Additionally, Melinda partners with other women of Latin American descent to collaborate on items that compliment the swimwear.
Melinda is a third generation craftsperson who infuses elements of her multicultural background into her designs. She learned to sew from her grandmothers, who found work in New York's Garment District when they arrived in America with their children. Through Melinda's skills on the sewing machine, she was able to secure work in the fashion industry as a seamstress and samplemaker. This culminated with Melinda's work alongside famed swimwear designer Norma Kamali. She Founded Mirame in 2011 after a her stint there, just as she was awaiting the arrival of her first child. Melinda and her family live in White Plains.
