New Year's Day With Wendy Newton + Peter Ferko
Renewal: A New Year’s Day Yoga Practice
New Year’s Day is often considered a time for resolving, correcting, directing, redoubling. What if instead, it was a day of still point — a moment when the last year is over, and we can let go of those efforts, those judgements, those conceptions? And pause. And breathe.
What if we could start fresh from an openness that allows us to see and align with our own purpose, or to use the yoga term, karma — the evolution toward our highest nature?
Join yoga masters Wendy Newton and Peter Ferko in a practice of yoga and meditation that helps reset the body, mind, and spirit. Begin anew through inspirational guidance, movement that is feasible for all practitioners, and a guided meditation to help you create a moment of pause between last year and all that is to come.
Wendy Newton was initiated Yogiraj, or master, of ISHTA Yoga by Alan Finger. She coauthored The Tantra of the Yoga Sutras with Alan Finger and teaches classes, teacher trainings, workshops and retreats internationally. Peter Ferko is also Yogiraj of ISHTA Yoga and coauthored The Genius of Yoga with Alan Finger and wrote Yoga for Artists. He is the host of Peter’s Podcast: Real Yoga, Actual Happiness, and Deep Living and also teaches internationally.
Monthly Yoga Nidra with Dani
If you find it hard to switch off, this class is for you! We all need more rest especially before the holidays. Achieving this however can be very challenging for most of us, especially if you find it hard to relax, to fall asleep or to stay asleep. This Yoga for Deep Rest class aims to support your body to learn to relax fully, so the mind and body soften to allow the nervous system settle.
This class is about enabling you to let go of physical and mental stress and encourage your sympathetic nervous system (fight, flight freeze) to dial down and your parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) to dial up - promoting balance and helping you to reset.
You will be guided into a few very supportive asanas to relax the body and then you will be guided through a Yoga Nidra mediation enhanced with essential oils. A special place of sleepless sleep where you just listen to your internal pulse of just being.

Hudson Valley 5Rhythms
Hudson Valley 5Rhythms at Ascend Collective

Led by Peter Fodera, Stephanie Diamond and other Guest Teachers
5Rhythms is a dance practice created by the dancer/musician Gabrielle Roth in which participants gather in a supportive community, dancing instinctively to music, guided by a certified teacher/DJ. The 5Rhythms are: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness. Classes last two hours. They begin slow, the pace pick ups in the middle and end with a slow unwinding.
Wear clothes you can move in, dance barefoot or with indoor sneakers, bring a water bottle and your open heart. This is a drug and alcohol free practice.

Somatic Release Breathwork™ often inspires insights on what's been keeping you stuck and
creates a safe space to release the past and claim your authentic Self.
Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, water bottle and journal for insights, optional eye mask.

The Yin of Yoga with Amy Pearce Hayden
In this unique workshop we will explore what ancient culture understood as the energy maps of the body as well as their relationship to the physical experience to gain a deeper understanding of how and why the practice of yoga works.
We will discuss the concepts of yin and yang; the opposing forces that each of us contain and have the power to harness and effectively use to ground, change and heal.
Understanding Prana and Chi ( life-force ), as well as the Nadis ( the energy channels )will be an integral focus in this workshop. Just as a yang ( fast. moving ) practice encourages strong muscles, a toned and cleansed body - a yin approach balances by moving life force to the joints, the connective tissues, ligaments and tendons. During this practice we will hold, pause and remain in supported poses for up to 5 minutes. With static movement; time is a catalyst for a revealing look at the emotional body. This approach often dissolves the congested flow of vital energy throughout the body and encourages immediate healing.
All levels welcome! Preregistration Recommended!

Richer Practice, Richer Life! with Peter Ferko, Yogiraj
In times like these with so much challenge and uncertainty — and a season with so much activity, it’s useful to have a practice with enough depth to serve as an anchor and a clearer perspective on life. Join ISHTA Yoga master, Peter Ferko in looking at ways to enrich your practice so that it helps you remain balanced and helps determine the actions you can take to see life as more wonder-full and awe inspiring.
This workshop will provide an introduction to these powerful tools:
Determining your ayurvedic type, so that you stop comparing yourself with others as you practice yoga — and out in life.

Hudson Valley 5Rhythms
Hudson Valley 5Rhythms at Ascend Collective
Second Saturday and last Saturday Every Month from 5pm - 6:30pm
Led by Peter Fodera, Stephanie Diamond and other Guest Teachers
5Rhythms is a dance practice created by the dancer/musician Gabrielle Roth in which participants gather in a supportive community, dancing instinctively to music, guided by a certified teacher/DJ. It is a combination between group meditation and dancing with the ecstatic abandon of someone who is absolutely certain they are all alone, but instead are in a supportive community. Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support, and to provide a brave space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-walking, rock star part of ourselves that yearns to be free.

Danielle Locastro
Danielle Locastro, usually known as Dani, is a professional artist and a certified yoga instructor. She has been exploring her connection to something greater than herself her entire life through her art. She initially came to the mat 17 years ago as a way back to health after a near death experience during childbirth. When she started practicing with Charles Matkin and Lisa Bennet, she knew that this practice was transformative. The first time she moved her body and breath in a yoga class for her was like drawing, praying and painting. It too would be part of her life’s practice to maintain a healthy, mind, body, and spirit connection.
In 2013 Dani starting teaching after achieving her teacher certification, in the Raja Hatha Style of Yoga under Amy Pearce-Hayden. Her focus is on alignment with a dash of creative expression so that yoga on and off the mat is accessible for everybody. She works weekly in a variety of Hudson Valley Studios such as Elevate Yoga & Barre, Encourage, All Sport Fitness and Ascend Studio in her hometown of Cold Spring. In addition she works with numerous private clients to maintain wellness, promote balance, improve quality of life and explore creative expression.
Sound Healing Journey with Ananda Priti
Join us for a sound healing journey. Immerse yourself in a soothing, sensory experience designed to promote relaxation and healing. We begin with a gentle introduction, where Ananda Priti, offers the focus on themes of letting go, renewal, or introspection, which resonate with the autumn season.
As the journey unfolds, participants lie comfortably on mats, surrounded by ambient lighting and natural elements that evoke the essence of fall. Ananda Priti, playing a variety of sound healing instruments, such as crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, gongs, and chimes. Each instrument produces unique vibrations that resonate with different energy centers in the body, encouraging deep relaxation and emotional release.
Throughout the session, participants might experience shifting sensations, emotional responses, or vivid imagery as the sounds wash over them.
As the sound healing journey concludes, many may leave feeling rejuvenated, balanced, and more in tune with their emotions, ready to embrace the changes that autumn brings.

Somatic Release Breathwork
Somatic Release Breathwork™ is a healing practice to release trauma, stress and tension that
has been stored in the body. Through guided breath patterns, NLP ( Neuro Linguistic Programming ) and co-regulation of your nervous system this modality is self-healing on a deep subconscious level. In this practice we access the sympathetic nervous system to allow what's been stuck in the body to be expressed and moved out and invite in new more useful patterns.
The session is done laying down with eyes closed and is set to music.
Somatic Release Breathwork™ often inspires insights on what's been keeping you stuck and
creates a safe space to release the past and claim your authentic Self.
Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, water bottle and journal for insights, optional eye mask.
Julia Zern
Julia is a Vinyasa and Yin yoga teacher, as well as a Somatic Release Breathwork™ practitioner living and working in the Hudson Valley.
Julia has a background of practicing many different styles of yoga, learning from both local and international teachers since the year 2000 and teaching since 2011. She teaches a modern flow while staying true to the ancient teachings and philosophy that is the foundation of all Yoga. Julia guides gentle Yin yoga to release tension from the body and to regulate the nervous system, and as a reminder to get more present to the subtle energetics.
You can find Julia leading classes, workshops and trainings around Hudson Valley and sometimes in her home country Sweden. Julia believes that a steady and committed practice can be a catalyst for transformation and deep healing.

Diet, lifestyle, digestion, sleep, energy levels and connection with nature are always considered.
Katya welcomes in-person clients in NYC and in the Hudson Valley (at Ascend in Cold Spring NY.) Zoom sessions are also available. She offers single sessions, as well as 1 and 3-month health partnership programs.

Hollis Maloney
You know when you have that thought,"I really need to try that," over and over again? When something is just calling to you, but you don't know why?
That's what yoga was for me, and it was calling me for years. So when I finally went to my first Bikram class in 2012 I became instantly hooked. I walked out feeling like I had dropped pounds of emotional and spiritual weight that I had been carrying for very long time, and each class brought more and more release. Since then yoga has turned my life and myself into something I can be proud of. It's brought me community, courage, and healing deeper than I can express.
I received my certification as a 200 RYT from Sacred Brooklyn in February 2014, and since then have also been trained specifically in Yin Yoga, Reiki levels 1 and 2, and Prenatal Yoga.
Being able to share and teach this practice - a practice that has the power to cultivate indescribable strength and empowerment - is something I feel incredibly blessed to do. Yoga is truly the practice of life, and what we let go of on the mat we let go in our lives. It's not about the poses or flexibility, but it is about how the physical practice deepens and centers the self closer and closer to the soul, allowing us to just clearly be who we are meant to be.
